Personal Style Outfit-All Eyes On The Collar

A simple maxi dress layered with a fur collar coat is my uniform this season. I must have worn this  wintry combination half a dozen times over the past few weeks as the ensemble is comfortable to live in, versatile to dress up or down, perpetually looks polished and posh, and keeps me cozy and warm at all times. Every year, I buy at least one furry (or faux) coat as it's an absolutely effortless way to add a touch of retro world sophistication a la Joan Crawford or Mae West to any outfit. As for the maxi skirt, it's simply the only type of clothing I can squeeze into right now as the stubborn holiday weight gain is like Lindsay Lohan's legal troubles. It's not going anywhere until the fat lady sings.

I'm particularly enamored with my black maxi dress. Don't be fooled by its casual jersey knit fabric and mono color. The dropped collarbone baring v-neck is twisted to ruched perfection, creating a flattering silhouette fit for a modern Grecian goddess. Paired with blingy accessories (think crystals, lots of crystals), this maxi dress can be dressed up and outfitted for a special occasion.  The coat, on the other hand, is just special. There's something inherently glamorous about fur collars. No matter what you're wearing, be it a white tee and holed jeans, throw some fur on or near your neck and you'll pass for royalty.
