{GBF Style | Pink Halloween}

Happy Halloween! Although it's one of my favorite holidays of the year (nothing beats trick or treating and falling asleep with chunks of Kit Kats melting in your mouth), I never got around to putting together a costume this year as my mind has been elsewhere. So, at the last minute, I came up with a DIY "punny" (funny + pun) costume that will be revealed on my Instagram later today.

If you're not dressing up this year, I urge you to wear a little pink today in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Pink October ends today so let's seize the opportunity to promote a wonderful cause!

Here is a chic, stylish, and versatile outfit idea for Pink Halloween!
{Elliatt Cape Blazer $150}
{Lush Tank top $30}
{J Brand Skinny Leg Jeans $150}
{Tildon Wool Fedoral $38}
{Veja Oxford Grey Pumps via Avenue 32 $64}

And if you want to go the extra comfy route, switch out the blazer cape for this sweatshirt from Avenue 32 which is literally warm and fuzzy.

{GBF Beauty | Feel Fab Look Fab Part II}

As you know, I made it an October goal to amp up my fitness without sacrificing looking fab to feel fab. Part I of my Feel Fab Look Fab fitness beauty guide was all about the best workout skincare products. For Part II, I'm tackling makeup!

I'm not advocating wearing makeup to the gym. What's the point?  However if you do need to go straight from the gym to the office, date, etc...then you'll definitely need a few beauty products stashed in your arsenal. And when it comes to workout makeup, beauty is more than meets the eye as it's all about finding products that can withstand the sweat and heat of your workouts while efficiently complementing an on-the-move time crunching lifestyle. I've done the homework and have the found the best sweat and waterproof makeup products that will help you seamlessly transition from gym life to life outside lycra and spandex!

{Feel Fab Look Fab Part II: Makeup Routine}
{Youngblood Mineral Foundation $44} I can't believe I didn't go mineral sooner! The finely milled loose powder goes on matte, provides buildable coverage, and stays on through sweat and tears. And with mineral makeup, I don't have to worry about my foundation clogging my pores during workouts.
.
{Exuviance CoverBlend Concealing Treatment Makeup with SPF 20 $38} I use my concealer brush to dab a little bit of the concealer on blemishes and dark circles. The creamy formula stays on all day while releasing antioxidants to keep my skin healthy. I love the SPF which adds an extra layer of sun protection!

{Jane Iredale Eye Highlighter Pencil $16.50} When it comes to highlighters, I prefer the precision of a highlighter pencil. I've been using mainly the white side of this duo pencil on the inner corners of my eyes to make them look bigger and brighter while the pink side can be used as a cheek highlighter.

{Cargo Water Resistant Blush $26} The blush is highly pigmented and truly provides all day coverage! I love the pretty coral colors which compliments almost all skin tones.
  {Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade $18} After hearing my friend say she uses this eyebrow gel to her swim sessions and emerges from the water with her eyebrows intact, I knew I had to give it a try. Initially I was intimidated by it as I was afraid the gel would look harsh and severe. However, with a little practice in restraint, I was able to master the application process quite quickly. Instead of dipping the eyebrow brush directly from gel to brow, swipe the brush across the inside of the cap to remove excess product. The result is natural looking brows that can pretty much withstand anything and everything.

{Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner $20} The thin tip is easy to use and the all day wearability is exceptional-no smudging! And although I never stray from black when it comes to eyeliners, it does comes in some really cool shades for those that are a bit more experimental.

{Urban Decay Cannonball Ultra Waterproof Mascara $20} I've been raving about this mascara to all my friends because it's simply the best mascara I've ever used. Due to regular use of Revitalash (I use the brow version for my lashes as the applicator is easier), my lashes are finally long enough to wear with mascara. Cannonball is 100% waterproof, smudge proof, life proof and create mega long lashes that stays curled all day and all night.

{MAC Pro Longwear Lip Creme $18} Lightweight, creamy, and lasts for up to 12 hours without a top coat. This is pretty much everything I'm looking for in a long wearing lipstick. And it's MAC which means the pigmentation and color selection are top shelf.

{GBF Style | DSWStyle Times Three}

I’m really enjoying the late blooming transition from summer to fall as it provides the perfect style opportunity to fold my summer wardrobe into new fall outfits. Only in LA can quintessential summer pieces survive the LA frost to emerge as evergreen staples! In collaboration with DSW, I've put together three of my favorite summer to fall transition outfits bonded together by one very important commonality. They are all paired with my pointy toe animal print flats from the DSW fall collection. The textured detail and fall hue bring a touch of fall warmth to every outfit!

{Outfit 1}
My fun Julie Brown zebra printed sundress was an effortless and versatile favorite this summer. I wore it to run errands, to dinner with friends, and even to film a segment for USC. Its tan palette blends well with fall hues so I decided to tuck it inside a midi skirt and layered it with a denim shirt for a work appropriate fall look.

On my recent SF trip, I found myself gallivanting all over Chinatown in a super comfy, super casual denim outfit. My light grey stretchy DSTLD skinny leg jeans were the only pants I wore this past summer as the light color and breathable denim was a good match for the LA heat. To make the transition into fall, I layered with prints of plaid and leopard while softening the look with a light pink beanie.
 {Outfit 3}
My overalls truly have staying power! I've been wearing them everywhere as they're easy to put on and can be worn with just about anything. Perfect for an air to land outfit, I wore them aboard my flight to SF last week and even after touchdown exploring both Napa and Silicon Valley. To keep them basic and versatile, I paired mine with a crop top layered with a cozy scarf and added some color pop with my animal print flats.

{GBF Beauty | Feel Fab Look Fab Part I}

This month, I made it a goal to get stronger. Although fitness has always been a priority in my life, it was previously motivated by vanity and dictated by the scale. This time, the motivation comes from a desire to build strength, to challenge myself, and to go outside my comfort zone. Twice a week I'm at Iron LA working on a series of strength training, weight lifting, and cardio blasts with my girl Jules Erickson. I'm also running the Santa Monica stairs to build up leg strength, sweating it out at Yogahop's cardio yoga class, rock climbing at Rockreation to build upper body strength, and running and planking everywhere I go.

 Although I've been working out almost everyday, not once have I stepped on the scale. Because numbers don't mean anything if you don't feel fabulous! And well, isn't that the whole point to all of this?

My fitness fixation has completely changed the way I approach my beauty and skincare routine as I'm much more methodical about the products I use as each needs to target a specific beauty concern. Through trial, error, and lots of product testing, I've put together a comprehensive three part guide on the best skincare, makeup, and hair care products for my fitness junkies. Because one should never have to sacrifice looking fab to feel fab.

 {Feel Strong Look Fab Part I: Skincare}

{Laneige Triple Sunscreen $25} Lightweight and long-lasting, I use this sunscreen during outdoor workouts. The shimmering mineral pearls provide a touch of radiance while brightening my complexion.

{Dr. Lin Skincare Acne Cleansing Wipes $7} I use the wipes after each workout in place of a cleanser as it's portable and leaves no mess. It's absolutel essential to cleanse your face after every workout as sweat and dirt can clog your pores causing acne.

{Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask $25} I've been using this mask for years as it helps to calm down my skin and dry out existing blemishes. After a particularly intense workout, I use this mask as a spot treatment.

{Kiehl's Powerful Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate $52} My skin is dehydrated after workouts and requires a boost of extra hydration. This intense moisturizer can be easily absorbed into the skin adding a boost of much needed hydration.

{Donell AHA 20 Body Tingle $35} This is not your run-of-the-mill body lotion. Containing 20% gycolic acid, I use the lotion after my shower to slough away dead skin and to help soften rough patches. It's a must for winter workouts and works particularly well on calluses. I highly recommend it for runners, those that enjoy outdoor sports, and workouts during the colder months.

Michael Todd Organics Wild Berry Exfoliating Peel $34} Exfoliating to help unclog pores and smooth out the complexion is a must if you're working out on a regular basis. The peel smells like blueberry pie and is super gentle yet powerful. About three times a week, I apply the peel to clean face and leave it on for about five minutes. I felt a mild tingle the first couple of times after application which tells me it's working. It leaves my skin feeling incredible soft and smooth without causing any redness. I had a couple of stubborn acne scars and sunspots on my left cheek that are now fading after using this peel.

{Michael Todd Organics Ultra Light Whitening + Brightening Serum $37} Immediately after the peel, I use this brightening serum to further aid with the fading of acne scars and sun spots. I love that this serum utilizes natural ingredients and Hexylresorcinol, an active agent that's much safer than hydroquinone and found to be just as effective in addressing hyperpigmentation. It also protects against UVA and UVB rays and improves skin's barrier against pollution and skin exposure.

 My white Express shorts made its debut two weeks ago at a Simple Skincare event. Tucked away in a private bungalow at the Chateau Marmont, we received a crash course on skincare health, its connections to emotional and environmental triggers, and how to intelligently care for our skin. The event was vastly educational and ended on a high note as each of us went home with a selfie stick. It's something I never knew I wanted until I clutched it in my hand. Oh the fun, the vanity, the hours of self on selfie action!

Wearing white shorts in October may not be playing by the book but better to be late to the party than to stay home! Although, staying in with my selfie stick sounds like quite the fabulous night in. As long as a bag of Flaming Hot Cheetos is in play.
