Personal Style [Silverlake Spots] Wild for Extravaganza For the Senses Los Angeles Food and Wine Fest

I'm a simple gal with simple needs-good eats and good fashion. I definitely believe my food and style philosophies are very much aligned as I'm willing to taste any edible object and try on any flowing piece of fabric, once. My love for food and fashion collided at the Extravaganza For The Senses Food and Wine Event as I got to taste an array of not just edible but rather delectable morsels from some of the most fabulous restaurants in LA while wearing my fierce leopard skirt from Flirt Catalog.

The tasting event benefiting The Saban Free Clinic is currently in its 15th year and is one of the largest and most celebrated food and wine events in Los Angeles. Held in the backlot of the Sunset Gower Studios, the event consists of mouth watering samples from over forty food and wine vendors, a silent auction, live DJ, psychic readings, and detox massages. It is put on with the help of The Wine House and The New Friends of The Saban Free Clinic. The Saban Free Clinic, formerly The Los Angeles Free Clinic, in collaboration with strategic partners, serves as a medical home for the underserved and those who are most vulnerable by providing comprehensive, dependable and affordable quality health care in a caring environment.

That night my senses were overwhelmed and brought to be brink of no return. The food tasted amazing and the wine deliciously intoxicating. The music put me in a giddy, trance-like state as I automatically shuffled my feet to the rhythm, creating my very own personal dance space wherever I went. The Hollywood sign directly faced the studio backlot and I couldn't help but sneak furtive glances at it throughout the night as it reminded me of all that it symbolized. Reach for the hills, reach for the stars...because anything is possible in the city I call home.

With the angle and distance, I look like Gulliver from Gulliver's Travels in this picture!

Marcona Los Angeles-FAB LA Foodie Destination Spotlight

When I'm shopping, food is the last thing on my mind as my sole mission is to spot, strike, and swipe! I'm the energizer bunny of retail consumption. During one glorious day after Thanksgiving sale in high school, I shopped for ten hours straight without taking a single water, food or bathroom break. I'm not quite sure if I should be proud of my retail determination or hang my head in shame.

One of my favorite shopping streets in LA is Melrose Avenue. The shopping turf extends from La Brea all the way to Robertson. The street is quite the shopping rainbow as there's something for everybody. Affordable trendy boutiques offering the newest styles that you won't find until weeks later at Forever 21 sit blocks away from Balenciaga and Fred Segal. Tons of vintage shops are sprinkled in between to satisfy all your retro inclinations.

Nowadays, as much as I don't want to think about eating on my Melrose shopping marathons, my body ceases to function when I engage in self-deprivation for too long. So, I head over to Marcona LA, a gourmet LA sandwich shop and fine foods purveyor offering an adventurous and affordable, yet upscale, option for lunch, a snack, or a quick bite. They combine the concept of a simple, East Coast sandwich shop with European culinary influences, and sweeten the deal with a variety of homemade bakery goods. It's quick and delicious fuel so you can keep your shop on!

Engaging With Stella and Jamie-FAB Designer Brand Spotlight

A hugely rewarding perk of being a fashion lawyer and blogger in LA is gaining brand access and connecting with the visionary creative geniuses behind the fashion brands. As someone who comes from a rather regimented and cagely linear background, I enjoy engaging with creative minds in their creative spaces as the experiences take my mind to an entirely different fashion space.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Stella & Jamie design/office space and chatting with April Mun, fashion designer and owner extraordinaire. The women's brand lush dresses, silk tops and fringed leather handbags are popular with celebrities. My visit coincided with the model casting for their fall photo shoot, a process that's much more intense than it looks. Perfectly bodied gazelles strutted their most fierce poses in front of the camera, embodying model-esque confidence and beauty. Afterwards, I was invited to join in on the casting discussions in which each girl was analyzed on a thesis deep level. Intense!

Here's an interesting tidbit about Stella & Jamie-the brand is named after April's two former assistants who each embodied and totally owned their unique style expressions. One was rock n' roll and the ultimate cool girl while the other exuded femininity and old school refinement. Together, they're Stella & Jamie!

Another interesting tidbit/practical beauty tip-April has the most youthful skin and keeps turning back the hand of time by using lots of toners and doing facial massages aka strategic face slapping day and night.

After the model casting, I got to try on a couple of my favorite pieces from the Stella & Jamie Spring/Summer collection. Love love love the sumptuous silk fabrics, the meticulous detailing, and the form complimenting tailoring.

Personal Style [Pasadena Preppy and Proper] The Printed Summer Cotton Dress

Summer dressing is all about the cotton dress. It's light on the body, easy on the eyes, and heavy on style and grace. It's also the perfect dress piece for any and every style inclination. My Sugarlips Painted Lady Dress is this summer's cotton dress anthem. The dainty ruffles coupled with the delicate butterfly print is perfectly ladylike and easy to dress up, down, and all around. Recently, I took the dress in two separate directions for two very different occasions.

Take 1:
For a glam look that's refined enough to wear to work, I added a statement necklace to compensate for the mildly low neckline, a velvet sequined belt, minimal arm candy, and work size handbag. My oversized round shaped Chloe glasses and conservative hair bun kept the Jackie O influence heavily intact. Although I opted to wear grecian sandals, you can definitely pump up the refinement by wearing a pair of closed toe pumps.

Dress: c/o Sugarlips
Handbag: Chloe
Sunglasses: Chloe c/o Ditto
Shoes: Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent
Belt: J.Crew
Earrings: Tarina Tarantino
Necklace: Cara Couture
Bracelet: c/o Stella & Dot

Take 2:
As you know, I recently went to Vegas for a fun weekend of...Vegas. I left early on Sunday to roadrunner it back in time for the Two Point Oh! LA Royal Picnic celebrating my beloved blogger collective's third birthday. I didn't have time to go home and change so I was in my Sugarlips dress the entire day. The cotton material was comfy enough to wear on the four hour drive and it remained wrinkle-free for the endless picnic photo ops.

Adding a bold color vintage belt, my favorite Jimmy Choo espadrilles and dangled gold bracelets made it a perfect picnicking outfit!
