Aloe Vera-The Superdrink
Friday, May 20, 2011
By now, we've all heard of the term "super fruit." In recent years, pomegranates, goji berries, acai berries and mangosteen have flooded the health food channels, touted and marketed as magical foods with the ability to pretty much cure any and all ailments, including the ability to restore youth. But what about super drinks?
For as long as I can remember my family has firmly believed in the health and healing properties of aloe vera and we've religiously used it on all surface wounds, big and small. If we could ingest it in its plant form, we definitely would. But since that's not possible, we've settled for the next best thing-drinking its juice (always buy aloe vera juice that's 100% natural with no additives or added sugars). I usually do not drink any liquids other than water but I am definitely willing to make an exception for a super drink. Plus, you only need to drink 2-4 ounces a day to take full advantage of its health benefits.
Here are some of the health benefits of aloe vera juice:
-It can help boost the immune system.
-It also has anti inflammatory properties that can help alleviate inflammation, skin irritation, burns and wounds.
-It has a natural laxative effect, as a result, aloe vera juice is widely used to help relieve constipation.
-It is a common remedy for acid reflux symptoms, such as stomachaches and heartburn.
-It's also one of the best detox foods you can ingest. Besides helping with acid reflux, it also helps improve digestion and cleanse your colon.

Bridal Waves
Wednesday, May 18, 2011
Although it's only Wednesday, I'm already looking forward to the weekend as I will be a bridesmaid in one of my best friend's wedding on Sunday! Although the wedding ceremony is in the afternoon, the traditional Chinese tea ceremony will take place at 9am. This means I won't be able to get my hair done at the salon (boo!) and will need to tackle it on my own, and most likely while still half asleep. I'm clumsy, completely ungraceful and utterly impatient when using hair styling tools so I'm going to rely on foamy hair rollers to save my hair. I plan on setting it with the rollers the night before, and hopefully the rollers will transform my hair into mermaid-like waves a mere 8 hours later.
Buy or Bye? The Green Pleated Maxi Skirt
Monday, May 16, 2011
This skirt has been in and out of my shopping cart like Lindsay Lohan and rehab. I've definitely fallen in love with the pleated maxi skirt trend but I don't really know if I need another one to add to my ever growing collection. Especially when it's such a bold color as I fear it may only make a handful of appearances outside of my closet. What do you think? Is this skirt versatile enough to be a Buy. Or should I say Bye? Important tidbit-it's only $36!

Wednesday, May 4, 2011
For me, Valentino has always been one of the unreachables--a red carpet haute couture house that hovers above the reach of mere mortals. However, the launch of the Red Valentino line has enabled the descent of Valentino into the realm of civilian fashionistas like myself.
I love Red Valentino's Spring 2011 Collection. The pieces take the notion of youthful elegance to a Valentino level. Here are some of my favorites.

Quaint San Juan
Monday, May 2, 2011
Last weekend, I took a relaxing trip down the SoCal coast to San Diego. On the way there, we made a pit stop at San Juan Capistrano, a charming and adorable town just south of Orange County. Cute cafes and shops lined the pebbled road that ran parallel to the train tracks. Time stood still during the hour I was there as I fully basked in the sweetness of my surroundings. Everyone around us looked so relaxed, enjoying the warm weather and in no hurry to go anywhere. It's comforting to know that such a quaint and picturesque place exists so close to home.
If you ever need to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, I'd recommend a day or weekend trip to San Juan Capistrano or its equivalent in your area. Relaxation is calling!
