Beauty | Fake It "Til You Look It

Being a blogger and a lawyer, I'm often switching between two very different hats. During the day, I'm activating the logical, organized, analytical, and well-versed-in-legalese part of my brain. At nightfall, the power suit is swapped for a floral maxi as I'm soaking in visual inspiration, channeling abstraction, and stringing together flowery adjectives in the creation of my blog posts. With so much to do on a daily basis, I don't always (if ever) get eight hours of sleep. And although I'm perpetually in the red when it comes to sleep, it doesn't mean I have to be blood shot and looking like an extra from The Walking Dead.

By taking care of my skin, mind, and body, I've managed to mask the fact that I'm both a night owl and morning rooster, and I'm super excited to share a few of my tips for looking rested even when I'm so not. Yoga has always been my saving grace for clearing my mind and skin.

Yoga has always been my saving grace for clearing my mind and skin. Yoga poses along with sweating out toxins stimulates blood circulation creating a healthy glow. The poses also aid with healthy digestion which is extremely important for promoting healthy skin!

Every night, I use Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep moisturizer. Available at Target, the cream is basically a good night's sleep in a jar! The treatment mimics skin's key repair activity during deep sleep, which means even when I'm not heavy in my REM cycle, my skin is! I've been using it for just a week and it has really changed my skin. I wake up with a soft and smooth complexion regardless of how bumpy a night I've had.
I love clean food! There's nothing more delicious than biting into skin nourishing sweet and juicy heirloom tomato or chunky avocado slathered atop wheat toast. And what you put in your body is definitely reflected in your face. I find that it's super important to eat a dinner low in sodium and high in vitamins and antioxidants. I'm super sensitive to sodium, and my face and eyes will literally swell up the next morning if I've had too much of it the night before. And, of course, once my faces puff up, bags and dark circles appear.
To help combat dark circles, I use LaRoche Posay Pigmentclar dark circle eye cream. I use it every morning and, on really bad days, I reapply throughout the day. I love the smooth and cooling metal tip applicator, as it instantly helps with depuffing. It contains Phe-Resorcinol, which has been clinically proven to reduce melanin, the pigment responsible for dark circles.
I also get regular facials, as there's no better way to stimulate circulation than with an intense facial massage. Last week, I treated myself to a facial at the Kate Somerville skin clinic and it was basically the beluga caviar of facials. The clinic combines high-quality products and highly knowledgeable aestheticians in a sanctuary inching with beauty. Days after the facial, my skin still had that "I just left the spa" butter texture.
And lastly, I go on daily power walks. It's a healthy way to take a break from a busy day and to regroup when my mind might be feeling just a bit hazy from lack of sleep. I also get my best ideas when I'm strolling—ideas for both my legal practice and blogging, so hopefully one day in the near future, I won't have to lose as much sleep juggling both hats!
