 dress {Yumi Kim}
sandals {Sole Society}
tote {Neiman Marcus c/o | similar}
sunnies {ZeroUV | similar}
hat {Magid | similar}

I purchased my Yumi Kim floral printed dress about a year ago in New York and have been saving it for the perfect hot as hell weather to wear it. So of course it made its grand debut in Arizona where by happenstance the print matched the vibrant colors of The Saguaro Scottsdale, a Joie de Vivre hotel.

Although I try to incorporate prints into my work and weekend outfits, when I'm on vacation, I get a little carried away and end up bringing nothing but prints and bold colors. I guess it's my way of wearing a Hawaiian shirt without actually wearing one.

In the process of putting together this post, I did a little window shopping online and found a few more absolutely perfectly Yumi Kim vacation prints so that no matter where you are or what you're doing, you're just a dress away from being in a vacation state of mind.

romper {BB Dakota "Pardee" c/o}
wedges {Shoedazzle}
straw hat {Magid c/o}
sunglasses {Chloe}

Perhaps the only other time I was out of my robe or workout clothes, I wore my BB Dakota romper to a peaceful massage at the Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain followed by reading time that quickly turned into nap time. Gone Girl was my vacation read, a well-written suspense novel with a creative plot twist. The wife of a seemingly perfect couple suddenly disappears and thus begins the whodunit story. Secluded in the resort with outrageous zen appeal and feeling completely removed from the outside world, I thought about what it would be like to vanish. To be gone. But before I could answer the hypothetical, the thought blinked away because right now there's nowhere I'd rather be than here.

What's on your summer reading list?

{GBF Travel + Style | Sanctuary Camelback Resort and Spa}

Last month I snuck away to Scottsdale Arizona for a quiet desert getaway at Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort and Spa where days blended into nights as I practiced the peaceful and artful indulgence of doing nothing. The sprawling resort was the perfect home away from home and the ideal surroundings to spend a few quiet summer days immersed in desert appeal.

A welcome departure from my typical vacation encircling sightseeing and "doing stuff", I spent my time chasing after lizards, admiring the eerily human cacti, pondering the feasibility of hiking the red rocks, and taking baths in the outdoor in the buff patio tub. The hotel was my only and final destination and it was my happy place.

I wore my Motel Clothing satin slip dress to dinner at Elements, the resort's award winning restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious meal sourced with fresh ingredients and locally grown produce and meats while watching a cast of shadows slowly follow the descent of the glowing sun over the rocky mountains. You know, the essential elements for a fabulous desert night.

top {Amanda Uprichard}
jeans {James Jeans c/o}
blazer {Line & Dot | similar}
flats {YRU via Nylon Mag}
clutch {Justfab "Reflective" c/o}

My bunny flats grew up and quickly transformed into rabbits when paired with a more work appropriate casual Friday outfit. Not one to shy away from wearing bright colors and summer prints in the office but not one to draw too much attention either, I like to pick one color popping item and keep the rest of the outfit neutral and subdued. I love my Amanda Uprichard hot pink collared silk blouse as the colorful and vibrant top is an easy piece to dress up any outfit. For work, I paired it with a light pink blazer and white jeans.

My James Jeans are like second skin as it's soft and stretchy, two important prerequisites to wearing jeans in the office as you don't want them constricting your body and digging into your stomach causing poor circulation and choppy work flow!
