A Quickie

I love weekend road trips. It's such a great and low maintenance way to relax and get away. And living in LA affords me the luxury to take road trips to some very fabulous places, like Santa Barbara! This weekend, I will going to the seaside city two hours north of here for some wine tasting, fun in the sun, and some much needed R&R.

I'm looking forward to staying at the Hotel Oceana Santa Barbara, a charming Santa Barbara beachfront hotel providing endless ocean, mountain, and marina views. I'm definitely going to lounge by their outside courtyard, and then make my way over to the outdoor heated pools. The hotel also provides complementary two hour bike rentals, perfect for people like me who is always finding ways to squeeze fitness vacations (how else would I be able to justify the vacation food binges?). At night, I'm definitely going to walk over to the Marina and State Street, two of my favorite Santa Barbara hangouts and enjoy the light ocean breeze and the vibrant quaintness that one can only find in cities by the sea.

I hope you are having a fabulous summer weekend!

Hipster Inspiration

I am cracking up browsing through the posts on Accidental Chinese Hipsters.  Hipsters take note: Hipness happens where you least expect to find it. Happy Friday everyone!

Lanvin In Action

I'm loving Lanvin's Fall 2011 campaign. Raquel Zimmerman and Karen Elson are pulling off the "playing DDR while wearing haute couture" look with femmebot like austerity, and supermodel ease. I'm loving the irreverence and unconventionality of this campaign. At the same time, these shots sends a rather practical message-it's totally kosher to dance in Lanvin!

Anna Paquin, the Swan

Wow! It looks like Anna Paquin has been riding the bullet train headed straight to Hotville! Until now, I never saw her as sexy or glamorous and in my mind I always labelled her as the precocious and talented character actress. After seeing her latest editorials in V Magazine, my mental schema has been jolted and officially re-programmed.

Good Morning LA!

This Sunday, I will be at the Los Feliz Street Fair working the fashion runway show! I will be styling and modelling for fLuXus, a clothing line that embodies effortless LA sexy cool.  Fluxus breaks away from tradition and encourages the advancement of self-expression through fashion. Fluxus has embodied art in every garment incorporating simple but tactile materials in avant-garde shapes and cuts. Since its inception, fLuXuS has opened three retail stores that stretch from Los Angeles to Orange County.

To promote the street fair, I, along with Erica, Melanie, and the ever so fabulous Kelsi went on the KTLA Morning Show. While waiting in the green room for our segment, we got to see and mingle with the other guests-Eddie Izzard, Josie Bissett, Nolan Gould (he plays Luke on Modern Family) and Buddy, the Cake Boss!

This fLuXus dress is quite curvylicious! Shoes by Giuseppe Zanotti

The Los Feliz Street Fair is this Sunday, July 24 from 11am-10pm. It's on Hollywood Blvd between Vermont Ave and Hillhurst Ave. See you there!

Nicholas Kirkwood Spring 2012 Collection-Highlights

Nicholas Kirkwood has ingeniously combined two seemingly incongruent styles-sky high stilettos and loafers. The former screams sex kitten while the latter is a tame portrayal of librarian chic. But then again, doesn't every man fantasize about sexy librarians?
I love boldly colored patterns. It screams statement shoes.

The most ladylike bondage inspired stilettos EVER!
A great everyday oxford that's far from being everday.

Two Point Oh! LA Birthday Picnic

I had a lot of fun last Saturday at the Two Point Oh! LA picnic celebrating our group's first birthday. I had a blast catching up with other local bloggers and friends on a laid back and quiet sunny LA day. Of course, a picnic for fashion and beauty obsessed bloggers must have the requisite makeover and manicure lounges, a gifting suite, photo booth, a DIY tote station, and lots of sweet treats!

I am in love with POP Beauty nail colors. So glam and fun!

In Celebration of Bastille Day

A new Parisian style flea market is coming to Hollywood. Openmarketplacela is the brainchild of David Pilcer, who began selling perfume at the markets in France when he was 18 and subsequently fell in love with the charming atmosphere. He is aiming to re-create a Parisian vibe with his new venture, hosting up to 75 vendors (initially, and aiming for up to 250 by the fall), various food trucks and filling the open space with antique furniture, vintage clothing and jewelry and also new, handmade jewelry and accessories from local designers.

The flea market will be open every Saturday from 9:00am to 4pm at Hollywood High School, 1521 N Highland Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028.

Long Live McQueen

My visit to the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art last month was nothing short of a transcendental experience. I admired, I loved, and I cried. Each piece was an intricate work of art that exuded haunting, rebellious beauty-McQueen's signature style. He was such a talented world class tailor with an ingenious imagination, brazen in his vision of beauty and style.

Although pictures were strictly forbidden inside the exhibit, I managed to sneak in a few shots for your viewing pleasure.
