I think it's a cop out when people put together summer to fall transition outfits that involve "transforming" warm weather basics like a white tee or dress by layering with a blazer or switching out shorts for jeans. Where's the difficulty or fun in that? Transitioning a red and white striped dress with a front bow into a potentially work appropriate fall outfit? Now that's fun!

When I first got my Show Your Mumu red and white striped dress, I felt a bit uneasy. After all, the vibrant and bold colorful vertical stripes are difficult to pull off without being mistaken for a candy striper. I realized rather quickly that to wear the dress in the summertime meant keeping the focus on the dress while playing up its fun factor. I wore it with cute accessories like floral sandals, round sunnies, and a heart-shaped purse.

Now that that weather is finally cooling down, I decided to make the dress a bit more serious by wearing it as a jumper over a black turtleneck-one of fall's biggest trends. Over the knee boots grounds the look and a basic black blazer takes the outfit into workplace territory. Trying to figure out a way to transition the dress from summer to fall definitely took a while but when it comes to fashion and style, it's the process that makes it oh so fab!
