{TRAVEL + STYLE}Three Boohoo Outfits in Shanghai {"Past, Present, Future"}

Next Monday, I'm going back to where it all began. Shanghai. It's my birthplace, my first home, and the core of my childhood memories. Although most of my extended family still live in Shanghai, including my 90-year-old grandparents, I've only been back a handful of times as the present has a way of sucking you in and keeping you discombulated from retracing your roots. Yet it's our past that shapes our present and prepares us for the future. So, through family gatherings, business meetings, and modest amount of shopping (HA!), I plan on exploring all of Shanghai...to see the new, revisit the old, and explore the unknown. Follow my journey on twitter and instagram!

For my trip, boohoo sent over three pieces from their current summer/spring selection for me to style three outfits to wear in Shanghai. I like the UK based shopping site's eclectic offering of trend driven apparel and accessories and LOVE that each piece has quintessential British character which adds a touch of unique flair to my outfits. Scroll to the bottom to find out how you can win one of the featured piece.

{REVISIT THE OLD-Family Dinner}
I've paired a lace embroidered sleeveless button down shirt from Growze with msy boohoo fit and flare organza lace skirt. Why all white? Because family will always see the child in you so why not play up the innocence angle? A pop of color in the form of bright yellow patent oxfords from Growze adds edginess to the look.

{SEE THE NEW-Shopping on Nanjing Road}
Ever since I saw them at boohoo's US launch party, I've been obsessed with these black dungarees. They're eye-catching and one-of-a-kind and are a trendy take on the jumpsuit look. The color and material makes the piece polished and chic which means you can wear them with just about anything and still look put  together. The inseams are perfect for average height gals which means I can walk in flats while engaging in heavy duty shopping.

 {EXPLORE THE UNKNOWN-Business meetings}
I hold a strong aversion to wearing anything that resembles formal business attire so I plan on pairing my side embroidered floral white skinny jeans with my Mason button down blouse for business meetings in Shanghai. The unusually long blouse looks dressy and compliments the ornate flourishes on the pants which hopefully will distract from the fact that I'm wearing jeans to a business meeting. If eyebrows are raised, I'll just blame it on LA denim culture.

 {outfit 1} Growze top | boohoo skirt | Growze shoes | Anthropologie headband | Belle Noel bracelet | | Wire LOVE bracelet | Foreign Exchange starfish ring
{outfit 2} Old Navy tee | boohoo dungarees | BCBG Cuff
{outfit 3} Mason by Michelle Mason blouse | Beautiful People tank | boohoo jeans | 3.1 Phillip Lim sandals

  39. For many people around the world, fashion means just one thing, “Style”. Students in fashion Design create their own concept as it will be showcased on a fashion design exhibit where Top designers served as “critics,” providing soon to be stylist the chance to develop skills in design. Learning the Fundamentals of Design is one of the key components to become a Professional Designer, I myself worked hard to learn the basics but not in fashion because my focus was in Graphics Design and Engineering.

    Fashion Design is similar to Graphics Design. By comparing these two related technologies, both have common denominator. Everything starts with a Creative Vision as a design is being conceptualized and this is how professional designers do their work.

    ReplyDelete
  40. In my own opinion, there is no formal education or certification required to become a successful fashion creative designer. It requires a combination of sketching and drawing, graphics design skills, layout skills, sewing and knowledge about the Industry of Fashion, and most importantly the right attitude towards work, the creative passion, perseverance and patience.

    Decide which Field of Design you are most interested. But there are also people who find it hard to decide which way to go, that is why experts suggests in order to identify your direction you need to start picking up some things that you enjoy most. Gather those things and try to build up a foundation of Likes to generate happiness and Love then sooner you will just discover that it is not hard after all. Everything is just waiting for the right time.

  41. Yes it is true that there are people who are already gifted with design skills and some were born to be creative designers, others may have developed their creative skills, and most are acquired from school, from mentors and others may have learned it by themselves because of their interest and enthusiasm with creative design.

    Explore the world and learn beyond creative design. Get involved with the fashion industry and understand what consumer wants and try to see things from their perspective so you can develop techniques in order to meet demands of the market.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Master your market by knowing your customer. Creative marketing is a skill every fashion designer must possess. Know what attracts your costumer and their capacity to pay. Know their lifestyle, where they like to shop, how they like to shop. And if you have done creative marketing, you should have a solid understanding of how you could work out with your customers' needs.

    Keep an eye on what other designers are up to. Know what they do and their line of interest. What inspires them and try to experience it in your own way so you could develop with yourself a deeper understanding of how the fashion industry works and what will work for you and staying competitive.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Lastly, assemble your own portfolio with your designs, as it is your chance to market yourself. That portfolio should display your best work, and highlight your creative passion and design skills.

    As you go along with your creative design venture, keep in mind that you need to stick with your goal because designing is not about being creative today but it’s a lifelong Journey towards perfection.

  44. This is a very user friendly blog and I have just bookmarked it so I could make a visit here more often.

    The design is very nice as well, so keep up the good work.

    Two thumbs up from me.

    Thanks a lot!
