Travel | Into The Desert

A photo diary and play by play of my weekend shopping adventure with Vogue and Simon Outlets

Taking a weekend trip while eight months pregnant probably isn't the smartest idea but how could anyone muster the will power to say no to a shopping adventure? In partnership with Simon Outlets and Vogue, I, along with twenty of LA's other retail therapy addicted fashion bloggers took a trip to Palm Springs for an epic weekend of shop and fun 'til you drop. Or in my case, until I pop.

We started the desert adventure at The Line Hotel where two limo vans shuttled us nonstop to a place I'm all too familiar with-the Desert Hills Premium Outlets. Growing up, my family and I took yearly pilgrimage to the outlets to do our holiday shopping and to satisfy our collective thirst for designer merch. I'd hunt for treasures and sometimes would score golden nuggets like my YSL Black Patent Muse and my first pair of Choos. Oh, the memories! As we inched closer and closer to the desert shopping mecca, a flash of anxiety crept in as I realized this is the first time I'm shopping the outlets while pregnant. Will I have the energy and the patience to hunt?

Within fifteen minutes, I realized that shopping for deals is ingrained in my DNA, bump or no bump. And for the next five hours, I hopped from store to store sans water or food with vigor and mobility that I hadn't experienced in months trying on shoes at Prada, jackets at Marc Jacobs, and putting together head to toe looks at Maje and Sandro. I was on fire and had the shopping bags to show for it.

After regrouping with everyone and sharing our shopping conquests, we hopped back on the van and headed to The Saguaro Hotel for some R&R before a fabulous dinner under the stars. While noshing on chicken and churros, I got to catch up with friends and make some new ones. Nothing brings fashion bloggers together like designer bags and yummy food. I'm so glad being reckless and brazen paid off. And thankful that I didn't go into labor while I was shopping.
