{GBF Style How To} Simple Embellishments

Scandal is officially my favorite network TV show. The plot is intriguing and the dialogue is fast and smart. But what's really mesmerizing is the angst and love between Olivia Pope and POTUS and the weaving dynamics of their professional and personal relationship. She's essentially living every political science geek turned lawyer's (ME) dream. During tonight's season premiere, I saw several Target Style commercials featuring the fall runway show I attended in NYC last month. Not only was it a great memory refresher of all my favorite looks from the show, I also felt a sense of pride knowing that I got to witness the making of a national ad campaign and that through my blog's narrative, I get to play a small part in it.

One of the style themes for fall is embellishment. As a lawyer, it's tricky to incorporate embellished elements into my corporate wardrobe as they can be too loud for the workplace. But the subtle embellishments of my black blazer with faux leather sleeves and shoulder detailing and my Phillip Lim for Target bejeweled tank render both pieces work appropriate yet in line with one of fall's biggest trends. Blue stone cluster earrings and cobalt blue brocade print maxi skirt complete my  simple embellishment look. It's an outfit I would proudly wear to the White House.
