{What I Wore to Mr. C Beverly Hills} Backpedaling

Last Thursday, I spent twenty minutes staring at my bike contemplating whether I should ride it to Mr. C Hotel Beverly Hills to attend the Bio-Oil dinner as it's just a few blocks from my home. Of late, I've been fixated with pushing pedals and find myself straddled and riding hard at both at my sweat dripping Auracycle spin classes and bracing the elements on five hour bike rides spanning Venice to Westwood. So a five minute cruise down the street? I can do it with my eyes closed. But the trick lies in finding a functional biking outfit that's appropriate for a three-course dinner with the Bio-Oil team, the makers and purveyors of one of the world's most effective moisturizing oils. And spandex bike shorts just don't scream dress to impress.

So I stood there in front of my bike piecing together an outfit. I decided on a gingham halter top and shorts combo that can do sporty and dressy double duty. With winds scaling at higher than normal octaves, I layered with an oversized boyfriend coat in the shade of the moment-pastel pink.  A pair of sunnies to block dust, bugs, and flying trash was an necessity as were a small crossbody purse and sensible heels.

I was ready to go. Until the possibility of drinking and biking and tipping over in Beverly Hills dawned on me. So I called Uber and backpedaled on my biking aspirations.
