{GBF Style + Travel} NYFW Style Diary Outfit 1

I had a mini meltdown Wednesday night. I was standing on the corner of Washington and 3rd encircled by two suitcases and five giant totes waiting for a taxi to take me to The Empire Hotel. As I surveyed my luggage entourage, I suddenly had the urge to ditch the baggage and go home. After spending all day Tuesday and Wednesday pulling outfits, attending meetings, and working nonstop, the buildup to the sheer monstrosity of fashion week left me feeling overwhelmed.

I was still feeling on the edge when I got to my room. A box of sugar cookies in colorful fashion shapes along with a cute note from the hotel greeted my arrival. I ate a stiletto. I felt a little better. I noticed warm light cascading into the room from the corner corner window. I walked over and looked out into an across the street view of The Lincoln Center which was lit up and glowing with excitement. The Style Awards had just ended. A single file line of the best dressed celebrities and fashion designers were making their way into awaiting limos. I think I saw Kate Upton or someone just as generously proportioned. All of a sudden, the rush of sugar and the realization that I was at New York Fashion Week slapped me in the face. I got excited.

Yes, it's going to be a crazy week. Yes, I may not get to eat everyday. And yes, there may be a few sweaty moments. But I get to witness fashion as it happens! I snapped out of my sulky mood, ate a satchel, and went to bed in giddy anticipation of fashion week.

The next day, I wore a boxy Marissa Webb top, Carven skirt (both from Elizabeth Charles) and Reiss briefcase to the BCBG and Tadashi Shoji shows. Fashion week had begun.
