{GBF Life + Style + Travel + Food} If These Walls Could Talk

I'm going back to Palm Springs in less than two weeks for a crazy Coachella weekend and am quite sure the experience will not be antecedent to my most recent flee to PS as that trip centered around rest, peace, and sleep. While at the Parker Hotel, we spent hours cocooned inside the hotel's thirteen acre grounds sinking into the calming folds of the desert retreat. The walls of the hotel has weathered an impressive seventy year history. Once Gene Autry’s Melody Ranch estate, it was, for a time, the Merv Griffin Resort, then the Givenchy Hotel and Spa, and now, after a substantial  renovation by designer Jonathan Adler, it’s back as The Parker. Its eclectic blend of periods and references is an Adler trademark as the Mod Sixties, the hippie Seventies, and the Hollywood Rat Pack vibe that Palm Springs is known for are flaunted throughout the hotel.

During the day, we strolled the grounds, dipped in the pool, played croquet, and battled our minds moving life size chess pieces.  At night, old Hollywood beckoned behind the velvet curtains of Mister Parker, an opulent hideout serving amazing French fare. We started with the sea as New Zealand oysters and tuna tartare with creme fraiche and quail egg lined our appetites. Then, an amazing rendition of French onion soup warmed my body from head to toe. Melt-in-your mouth lamb shank and fresh scallops took their place as the main attractions. The meal ended on a sweet note as an amazing banana foster generously layered with ice cream perfectly complimented the peanut butter mousse.

Throughout the spectacular meal, I kept looking up and around me convinced I had gone back in time hopeful that Marilyn and Frank were just a few steps behind the velvet curtains. Old Hollywood is alive at The Parker.

{GBF Life + Style +Events} A Bright and Cheesy Night

A party at the Jose Eber salon in Beverly Hills hosted by Elle and Wella Hair calls for a bright and bold spring outfit. So I wore my new dark coral button down sleeveless shirt dress over a navy graphic print    top and dark navy pencil skirt. The outfit, purchased at TJ Maxx, is a new look for me as I don't usually wear skirts and dresses that hit far below the knees. However, with the dawn of the new season, I'm making it a fashion goal to experiment with new silhouettes. The outfit is actually quite versatile as the conservative length is proper enough to wear to work while the punch of color take it into night time territory. Don't forget to submit your look for a chance to win a $500 gift card.

I somehow ended up arriving at the party early and got to witness Mr. Eber and his talented team in action. The salon was bustling with stylists, photographers, caterers, models, and bartenders prepping for the party. As I sat in the regal velvety chair witnessing the scene unfolding before me, I took a few seconds to reflect on how lucky I am to be a part of it all. Front and center.

After the party, I went to dinner at 3Twenty Wine bar for their limited run Thursday night Campanile grilled cheese pop up. Chef Mark's cheesy sandwiches were legendary at Campanile and each bite of his carb and dairy creations hit the spot over and over again. If only every night could taste so enticing and shine so bright.

{GBF Life + Style + Video} Day to Night in Reiss

When I was at USC law school, I made many visits to the Reiss store on Robertson Blvd to elevate and refine my style game. Out goes American Apparel. The Brits are coming! If I needed a cute blouse for law mixers, I got it from Reiss. A stylish yet proper pantsuit for on-campus interviews? Back to Reiss. After a while, the scope of my relationship with the UK luxury fashion house spread to other facets of my life. I found myself going to them when I needed pretty frocks for dinner parties and wore their slinky shirts and flirty skirts at bar review (a Thursday night ritual consisting of bar hopping and dancing off-key). It became my one stop shop for my day and night life. In law school, Reiss was there for me.

And now we're back together! Last week, my kindred fashion spirit and fellow lawyer Lynsey and I shot a style video showing how to take Reiss from office hours to after hours. There are some people you are destined to meet and L is one of them. A mutual friend set us up after realizing we're the same person. She's bubbly, giggly, and is as obsessed with fashion as me (if not more). And yeah, she's a hardcore lawyer. Talk about breaking the mold into a thousand pieces! She and I hold steadfast to the belief that you don't have work corporate to look corporate as passion for fashion transcends cubicles, board rooms, and court rooms.

It was so fun spending the afternoon in West Hollywood shooting the video. Special thanks goes out to my friends at Bollare and Tortilla Republic. And mad props to our videographer Joshua Makela whose talents are absolutely limitless!
