Paris Travel Diary-In Seine, Be Sane

The first time I came to Paris, I was not in a good place. I had just finished a very brutal year of legal boot camp aka first year law school and had to give up an amazing summer internship at the D.A.'s office due to a horrific car accident that required surgery and left me in a cast for the entire summer along with a permanent metal screw in my arm. My disdain for law school coupled with the car accident triggered a rather despondent and bleak outlook on the future. I felt obligated to see law school through as I had built up and based my life around the career goal of becoming a lawyer. At the time, I didn't feel like I had a way out. But the way in made me sick to my stomach.

On that trip, my heavy heart was lifted the moment I saw the Seine River. Its picturesque tranquility instantly calmed and soothed my stressed nerves. I spent almost every sunset of my first Paris trip standing on Pont Neuf bridge watching boats cruise down the Seine and lovers peacefully strolling alongside it. It helped me see that moments in life can be as simple as standing on a bridge and yet still be filled with incredible joy and wonder.  On that bridge. I vowed no matter how befuddled my life of law gets, I will deal with it accordingly and calmly because the payoff is getting to come back to see Seine.

And that's exactly what I did to keep myself sane.
