Ms Fashion Lawyer Goes to Washington DC-FAB Travel Spotlight

I traveled to Washington DC two months ago to attend a one week intellectual property law conference. Thousands of attorneys from all over the world gathered at our nation's capital for endless meetings, seminars and parties. My days were packed. After being in meetings and seminars all day, I usually had a one hour window for a quick workout, shower and wardrobe change. Nightly events consisted of champagne receptions at beautiful hotel rooftops overlooking historic landmarks, extravagant ten course dinners, and black tie parties at exotic locales like The Swedish Embassy that went into the wee hours of the morning. Lawyers party WELL.

In college, I majored in political science so I was totally geeking out during the entire trip, fawning over the majesty and significance of each city building. Although I didn't have much time to sightsee, I managed to sneak in visits to each of our three branches of government.

As I stood on the steps of the Supreme Court, I was filled with emotions and couldn't help but cry a little bit. Our highest legal institution symbolized the culmination of the hard work and dedication I put in to become a lawyer. I felt a sense of privilege and pride to be standing on the steps knowing that I'm a part of it. It's a moment I will carry with me forever! Cheesy, but true.

No trip, work or pleasure, is ever complete without shopping! The conference happened to be in close proximity to a shopping district, so I was able to take a needed retail break during a rare lag in my schedule. I was super impressed with DC's TJ Maxx. The designer handbag offerings were off the chain (no pu intended) while the prices were still Maxxinista friendly.

It's TJ Maxx's 1,000 store!

I had a utterly fabulous time in DC and would go back in a heartbeat. The food was delicious, the people were extremely friendly, the sites were awe-inspiring, and the TJ Maxx store is a designer bargain paradise. GO USA!
