Sephora Endless Color Blockbuster-On My Radar

I just purchased this super-sized makeup set from Sephora! It's a travel-friendly palette with 187 make-up products in a wide variety of newly updated colors.  The set contains:

- 98 totally original, iridescent effect eyeshadow shades
- 70 shiny lip glosses
- 6 cream eyeliners
- 2 lip liners
- 3 eyeliners
- Mascara
- 4 applicators

I first fell in love with the idea of mega makeup sets when a friend purchased one for me a few years ago.  I love the vast variety of colors and the relatively compact and travel friendly size.  Plus, the idea of having so many colors to choose from satiates my constant need to purchase makeup.  It's perfect for someone who likes to experiment with colors and switch up their makeup routine. Can't wait till its arrival!  Stay tuned for a proper review!

Wedding Blues-Personal Style Outfit of the Day Post

I wore this outfit to my friends' wedding last weekend. The ceremony and reception took place at a modern and colorful hotel in Long Beach on one of the hottest days this year. So, I wanted to wear something that was light and airy, but with a modern twist.

This blue patterned one shoulder dress was an impulse purchase and had been sitting in my closet for the past year, patiently awaiting its debut!

Britney on Glee Tonight!

Although I'm not a huge fan of the show, I'm super excited to see tonight's Britney Spears Glee episode!  She is my pop idol as I grew up entertained and mesmerized by her performances and music.  Thinking about tonight's episode reminded me of her performance at the 2000 VMA, which in my opinion is her greatest performance to date.  It showcased her sex appeal, raw talent and natural charisma.  And don't even get me started on her bedazzling nude costume!

Is it naive of me to still hope against hope that the old Britney will one day reclaim her fabulous throne as the queen of pop?

Here's her performance from the 2000 VMA: She sings "Satisfaction" and "Oops I Did It Again"

Steve Madden Knocks Off Alexander Wang Booties-Alex, Meet Steve

I'm kind of loving Steve Madden's interpretation of the Alexander Wang Anabela Booties.  The Steve Madden A-Yoko Ankle Booties keeps the military spirit intact but look more refined and feminine, which barks up my alley.  Of course, it's also $450 cheaper.

Alexander Wang Anabela Booties $650

Christian Siriano for Payless Black Flats-Buy or Bye?

Ever since Christian Siriano's for Payless Spring 2011 set me aflutter with shoegasms last week, I've been looking and thinking about his shoes.  I'm in the market for a new pair of black flats as my kate spades have seen better days.

I like these flats from his fall 2010 collection. But is it too flashy and perhaps not comfortable enough for day-to-day wear and tear? Buy or bye?

Erdem Spring 2011 RTW Collection-I Die

Although I've been DVRing The Rachel Zoe Project since Season 1, I don't frequently reference or borrow from the Rachel dictionary.  However, after seeing Erdem's Spring 2011 Runway collection, the phrase "I Die" befittingly describes my utmost organic and visceral reaction. While viewing the collection, I truly felt like I'd died and gone to heaven.  Every piece was more GORGEOUS than the last, elevating my fashion senses to a heavenly high.  Before I completely immerse my head in the clouds, daydreaming about the lace details and the perfect color pairings, I've included some pictures for your visual enjoyment.

Suno Fall/Winter 2010 Collection-On My Radar

At NYSFW, the fashion world was buzzing and crushing on SUNO New York's Spring 2011 collection.  A relative newcomer to the fashion scene, Max Osterweis founded the label in 2008 amidst turmoil in the Kenyan political structure, due to his love for the country, textile and people.  Kenyan influence graces his collections through the incorporation of strong colors and bold patterns, culminating in an optimistic and fashion forward fashion label.

Here' s a peak at the Fall 2010 collection.  You can purchase his pieces at Neiman Marcus and other fine department stores.

Personal Style Outfit of the Day-In Neutral Grounds

This is another fall transition outfit which was worn to date night last week.  Neutrals and long maxi dresses make for great transition pieces. I love the ruffling detail on the back of the blouse and the long flowy skirt creates a heighty illusion.

Personal Style Outfit of the Day-Romp Into Fall

I wore this season transition outfit a few weeks ago to a friend's birthday dinner followed by clubbing. The shoes were definitely ill-suited for dancing.  On numerous occasions I almost tripped due to the sky high height!  Also, the shoes' comfort meter has an expiration time of about three hours.

Marc Jacobs Spring 2011 Runway Collection Recap

As previously announced, I am now a guest writer for haute online fashion magazine tresdope.com.  Please check out my first runway write-up! http://www.tresdope.com/2010/09/17/le-runway-recap-marc-jacobs-spring-2011/

Personal Style Outfit of the Day-Pluffy Pink

I wore this outfit to a couple of friends' art exhibit opening a few weeks ago.  The look is Lolita meets ballet dancer. I wore a petticoat under the skirt for some extra oomph. Since the shoes are quite ornate and adorned with crystals, I wanted the keep the rest of the outfit simple.  So, I opted to tie up my hair in a simple ponytail and passed on the jewelry.

CC Skye The Onie Lambskin Messenger Bag

I'm impressed.  The lambskin and the hardware makes this bag look much more expensive than its $595 price tag.

Fashion Week Los Angeles-Breaking Grounds

Last week I was invited to attend Fashion Los Angeles Groundbreaking, an event hosted by two new players hoping to revitalize LA fashion week-Michael Venedicto and Jeff Warrington.  As you may or may not know, LA Fashion Week has always been the quiet and homely cousin to New York Fashion Week.  Perhaps due to lack of dynamic leadership or poor structure and organization, LA Fashion Week has all but fizzled out in the past few years.

Michael and Jeff are the well-dressed white knights, hoping to breathe life and save the struggling local fashion showcase from a permanent demise. They hope to connect and collaborate with designers on an individual basis, to present each collection in its ideal format: whether that be a runway show, an installation, or pure media, as well as provide marketing tools.

The event last week ceremoniously served as the inception to Spring 2011 Fashion Week Los Angeles and was attended by players in the LA fashion industry and fashion-minded enthusiasts. I was impressed by Michael's energy and vision and am looking forward to being a part of this exciting initiative to rebuild fashion week in LA!

As things get underway, please stay tuned for my insider's updates and scoop on the project.

Personal Style Outfit of the Day Post-Casual Boho

When I first started my own blog, my vision was to create one that would be primarily focused on personal outfits mixed with occasional fashion and style commentary. I obviously did not know the time and effort it would take to create personal outfit entries!  With my busy schedule, it's been difficult to find the time to scout locations and shoot. However, I'm really going to step it up and make time for outfit entries as they're super fun and I get to utilize my creative juices!

I wore this outfit to work last week and also to the movies on Saturday.  The outfit is super simple, comfortable but interesting due to the billowy shape and contrasting colors.

Mischa Barton and Bill Murray Under One Roof-Celebrity Sighting

On Friday night, I attended the opening of a new exhibit at the R&R Gallery in Downtown LA. Entitled "Mr. Bill Murray: A Tribute to the Legend," artists contributed to works that were as quirky and unique as the actor himself.

Because the exhibit opening received a write-up in the LA times, the gallery was completely packed when we got there. It was like we had arrived at the opening of the hottest nightclub. I'm sure the open bar added to the event's popularity and mayhem.

Inside, I ran into Mischa Barton and we got a chance to chat a bit.  Okay, I don't understand why the tabloids keep harping on her weight.  The girl is tall and skinny--with model-like limbs! Yes, she has a pear-shaped body which contributes to a bit of junk in the trunk.  But she is by no means fat! Mischa was wearing a vintage inspired romper and holding a lovely fur-trimmed tweed coat. I asked her about the coat and she said it's from Kevan Hall and she pulled and bought it from a photo shoot.

Here are some pictures from the event.  Because it was so crowded, I decided not to ask Mischa for a picture. However, when I uploaded my pictures, I realized she was actually in one of my crowd shots!  She's in the picture below.  Do you see her?

Pay Less for Haute Couture, an Oxymoronic Truth-Christian Siriano's 2011 Payless Shoe Collection

Okay, I am officially skipping fall fashion and hopping over to Spring 2011.  Mainly because of Christian Siriano.  And his fabulous $90 runway ready Payless shoe collection.  Yes, soon you can get high art, couture shoes for under $100!     Here are some pictures from the former Project Runway champ's Spring 2011 Payless Shoes collection to titillate your fashion senses:

I Do It For Me

A couple of friends and I had a lively discussion the other day about body preservation post pregnancy.  Although none of us are pregnant, we threw out interesting hypothetical such as: "would you get implants if your boobs are uneven in size due to breastfeeding (this happened to someone they knew)?"   I said I would not be opposed to maintenance work-a tuck here, lift there, and injections if necessary. I don't think a woman should ever settle for a post pregnancy body that looks nothing like the pre.  Giving birth to your child should be a blessing, not a permanent burden on your body and self-image.  And if exercise and diet are not enough to bring your body back to its original shape, why not cheat a bit and enlist the help of modern day science?

One of my friends disagreed with me.  She feels that once you have a baby, you probably wouldn't care how you look.  After all, you'll be entering a new stage in your life and would be too preoccupied with family life and childrearing to give a damn about cardio barre and eating flaxseed.  As long as your family accepts your post labor transformation, you too should be content.  I was absolutely floored by her statement.  Taking care of your body is more than just a physical goal.  It's a state of mind. Also, I do it for me. I do it  because it makes me happy and provides me with the self-confidence to accomplish my hopes and dreams.  And for that reason, I never solely rely on the reactions/comments of others to gauge how I feel about myself.  When it comes to aging, there's just no expiration date on feeling and looking fabulous!

Fashion's Night Out Los Angeles-The Recap

I had a fabulous time at Fashion's Night Out last Friday!  I was so busy people watching, celeb spotting and noshing on yummy food that I totally forgot to take pictures!  Here's a rundown of the sights and sightings.

3.1 Phillip Lim bash on Robertson Blvd:  spotted Lisa Love, editor at Teen Vogue with her minion of assistants.   Ate a yummy cheeseburger from local food truck Patty's Wagon, dessert was ice cream sandwich courtesy of Cool Haus.

Fred Segal on Melrose:  Taylor Jacobson, Rachel Zoe's former employee and fellow stylist was hanging out at the boutique the entire night. She was wearing a loose rolling stones tee, super tight jeans (presumably by Kasil-the company she's currently work at) and even tighter black suede over the knee boots.  Holly Robinson Peete (does anyone remember her from Hanging with Mr. Cooper?) was also in attendance, promoting her new children's book.

Red Carpet after party/fashion show at Industry:  various local designers were in attendance.

Neutrogena Triple Moisture Leave In Conditioner Cream Product Review-Where Have You Been All My Life???

While getting a haircut last weekend, my stylist bluntly told me that my hair was way too dry and needed some serious help. I wasn't surprised or shocked by her statement.  After all, it's been on the receiving end of numerous years of abuse (coloring, body wave perms, Brazilian blowout, chemical straightening).

I needed to take action.  After all, aside from the weekly Kerastase Masquintense deep conditioning treatment, I really didn't use any other healing products on my hair. It's been unacceptably neglected for way too long.  Based on a quick search for leave-in conditioners, I went out and purchased Neutrogena Triple Moisture Leave-In Cream. After my shower last night, I applied a small amount to my wet hair.  I felt a difference almost instantly.  My hair felt smoother and softer to the touch, even while wet.  After the blow dry, my hair was bouncy, soft and frizz-free.

I am officially anointing this product as my holy grail leave-in conditioner!

Btw, my hair is of medium thickness with a bit of natural waves.
