Rebecca Minkoff, Spring 2011 Footwear Collection-A Notable First Attempt

Acclaimed purse designer Rebecca Minkoff is coming out with her freshmen shoe collection next Spring.  I like what I'm seeing.  The color palette is on trend for Spring and the styles vary from the trendy to the classic, and demonstrates versatility and range.   Perforation is one of the main themes and I think it mixes well with the muted colors.

I'm looking forward to seeing the collection in person, as I'm sure the quality of the shoes will raise the stakes..after all, RM can't come out with a shoe collection without incorporating the supple leather that's a prominent feature of her handbags.

Prices range from $160-395.

Do you like what you're seeing?  Buy or Bye?

Market Fresh-On My Fashion Radar

I'm loving this red hot v-neck long sleeve by Market (http://www.market-ts.com/).  The "Helena" tee looks amazing on Rachel Bilson as it complements her petite frame and hugs her in all the right places.

I can't seem to find any retailers in LA that carry the line.  Market has an online store, but the fall collection is not yet available.

Patience is not my virtue.

Shanghai Girl-1930s Vintage Fashion

I'm going to a fun party tonight that's themed "A Evening in 1930s Shanghai."  I've been thinking about outfit options all day.  I'm not going to wear a traditional cheongsan (qi pao) as it might be a bit too formal for the event.  Instead, I'm opting for a simple dress accented with black lace gloves, black birdcage veil, and red lipstick.  Curled hair is a must.  I wish my grandmother lived in LA so I could dig through her vintage wear while listening to her stories about glamorous Shanghai in the 30s.

I heart my birthplace.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Halston Heritage Fall Favorites-Fall 2010 Fashion and Shopping

Halston Heritage has been on my radar for quite some time.  Among vintage brands, Halston is the quintessential classic cult favorite and I was super delighted to see its invigorating reinvention earlier this year. Although I loved the white kimono dress worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in SATC 2, I wasn't a huge fan of the rest of the spring collection.

However, it's now fall 2010 and all is forgiven and forgotten.  From what I've seen so far, the fall collection is quite fab and I can't wait to hunt down and try on some of my favorite pieces!  The draping and luxurious fabric is just pure Halston!

Halston Heritage Halter Day Dress $295

Halston Heritage Asymmetrical Twist Dress $245

Halston Heritage Oversized Cowl Sweater $275

Halston Heritage "Brandy" Braided Handle Satchel $495

Candid Interview with Jeffrey Campbell, Shoe Designer Extraordinare

I'm back in LA (again)!  I feel like I've been living out of my suitcase for the past month and as much as I love to travel, there's definitely no place like LA to come home to.  What can I say?  I truly cannot see myself living anywhere BUT here.  =)

As you know, I was in Vegas a couple of times this month for work and during one of my visits, I had the fortuitous opportunity to meet and converse with the man behind the brand, Mr. Jeffrey Campbell!  Not only did I meet him, I also got a sneak peak at their Spring 2011 collection.  It's going to be platforms galore!

Jeffrey Campbell is such a humble and gracious person who's truly appreciative of his success.  Here are some of the highlights from our conversation:

goodbadnfab:  Your brand has seen a lot of success lately with knockouts like the Lita and the Foxy.  Do you plan on opening any retail stores in the future?
JC:  No, no plans at all.  We don't want to compete with our retail customers.  That wouldn't be very nice.

goodbadnfab:  What is the design process like at JC?
JC:  It's a collaborative process.  The designers all work as a team.  I definitely cannot take sole credit credit for the designs as the brand is not just about me.  It's about everyone who works at Jeffrey Campbell.  I'm so lucky to work with such talented people.

goodbadnfab:  I'm loving all the conceptual shoes gracing the editorials that's drawing inspiration from animal hooves.  Any JC hooves in the works?
JC:  Aren't all of our shoes a bit hoof-like?

goodbadnfab:  Where is the Jeffrey Campbell headquarter?
JC:  In Los Angeles
goodbadnfab:  Ooooo, does that mean we have JC sample sales to look forward to?
JC:  Sorry, but the factory only sends one shoe for each sample!

He's such a sweetheart!

A Conversation/Interview/Sighting with Sasha Vujacic, LA Lakers

I love the LA Lakers.  My love for Kobe and the rest of the amazing team started during the inception of  the Kobe/Shaq dynasty and has grown exponentially each year.  J and I are season ticket holders so we go to quite a lot of Lakers games each season and know the team roster by heart.

While in Vegas last week, I randomly ran into Sasha "The Machine" Vujacic, the Slovenian basketball player who's currently the Lakers' second string shooting guard.  We chatted for a bit and although the conversation was brief, I discerned that he was a goofy and polite extrovert whose English was getting much better.  =P

What Happens in Vegas, Blogged

I'm back in LA!  With two back to back Vegas trips under my belt, I'm still not quite finished with August travels.  I'm taking off tonight for SF to attend a friend's wedding. Along the way, I'll be doing some wine tasting, windmill visiting and tons of sunbathing!

This week, I was in Vegas attending the fashion trade shows.  Every brand, from contemporary to streetwear, was exhibiting and selling their Spring 2011 collections.  As you can imagine, fashion ruled the Vegas strip as the city suddenly transformed into a desert mecca of style, albeit for just a few days.

Exhibitors and buyers gravitated towards dressing up their billowy blouses and jeggings with peep toe booties and bandage platforms.  Tonals, neutrals and black ruled the exhibition floor, giving off a monotonous but chic vibe.

My days were spent walking the show (MAGIC, PROJECT, SLATE, FN PLATFORM), and helping out at our booths while my nights were passed in a state of revelry and blur.  In the past week, I've met some interesting figures and have been living, breathing and dreaming fashion. Needless to say, the next few entries will be dedicated to my Vegas travels.

Me. Vegas.  Round three is looming...

Las Vegas Style and Fashion-Light Up the Night

The Las Vegas strip is enundated with densely populated clubs and bars.  With at least one headlining club per hotel, I had ample opportunity to "dress watch" and spot good, bad and fabulous fashion.  Unfortunately, I have to say most of the spotted attire fell in the not-so-fab category.

Vegas club wear lacks style and originality.  The girls I saw all projected a one-dimensional, run of the mill clubbing image-tight bodycon dress with strappy stilettos.   I mean, I totally get THAT look.  A tight dress is a sexy dress.  But why not style it up with an interesting color/cut, fab jewelry or some architectural stilettos?   Looking sexy and looking stylish are not mutually exclusive.  =)

Here are some of my picks for standing out while looking sexy:
