Hi everyone! I got back from Hong Kong a week ago but caught a super horrible cold right when I got back. I'm finally feeling like my normal self and am looking forward to blogging again!
In a word, Hong Kong shopping was disappointing. Per the recommendations of my friends and other savvy bloggers, I hit up all the highly hyped department stores and shopping areas but came up utterly empty-handed. I searched high and and low, scouring both Hong Kong and Kowloon islands, looking for anything buy-worthy. In the end, all I purchased was a pair of Celine-esque wedges.
I think the disappointment was due to the fact that I couldn't find anything that was the right fit for me. I was interested in edgy, local fashion (like Melrose Ave) or runway inspired pieces. I didn't care about the brands as long as the styles were interesting and the prices affordable. However, I soon discovered that the local fashion look was overpriced (more expensive than Forever21) and cheaply made. And the high-end designer goods were completely mainstream but more expensive than US prices.
In your opinion, which is the best shopping city in the world?

I would assume London is great for vintage and cheap high street fashion on vast quantities and locations. And New York the same. But I loved Reykjavik for edgy, off the wall, strange, and really different designs.
I haven't traveled to many other places, but I noticed that most shopping areas in Europe pretty much feature the same stores. I would die to go shopping in Sweden or Norway, though.
Welcome back! It's sad to see that a lot of the local fashion was cheaply constructed and overpriced... It's a shame, because I hear so many things about Hong Kong.
XX.
