Fashion Week Los Angeles-Breaking Grounds

Last week I was invited to attend Fashion Los Angeles Groundbreaking, an event hosted by two new players hoping to revitalize LA fashion week-Michael Venedicto and Jeff Warrington.  As you may or may not know, LA Fashion Week has always been the quiet and homely cousin to New York Fashion Week.  Perhaps due to lack of dynamic leadership or poor structure and organization, LA Fashion Week has all but fizzled out in the past few years.

Michael and Jeff are the well-dressed white knights, hoping to breathe life and save the struggling local fashion showcase from a permanent demise. They hope to connect and collaborate with designers on an individual basis, to present each collection in its ideal format: whether that be a runway show, an installation, or pure media, as well as provide marketing tools.

The event last week ceremoniously served as the inception to Spring 2011 Fashion Week Los Angeles and was attended by players in the LA fashion industry and fashion-minded enthusiasts. I was impressed by Michael's energy and vision and am looking forward to being a part of this exciting initiative to rebuild fashion week in LA!

As things get underway, please stay tuned for my insider's updates and scoop on the project.
