This past Friday, I had dinner with a group of girlfriends at The Village Idiot, a gastropub on Melrose Ave. I made the mistake of ordering the vegetarian dish-stir fry with lentils at a pub. Needless to say, the dish was bland and unappetizing. A couple of my friends ordered the pub burger, which looked juicy and delicious. But, when it comes to burgers, I'm much more into its starchy sidekick, the fries. So, although I didn't try their burgers, I did munch on their delicious fries, which were thick, crispy and infused with salty goodness.
The scene is your typical LA bar scene...a cross between twenty-something hipsters and thirty-something borderline hipsters. It's conveniently located in the heart of the Melrose shopping strip, between La Brea and Fairfax which makes it an ideal place to grab a beer and quench your thirst after a shopping trip.
